Abstract
Prostate cancer has become one of the fastest growing causes of death in Japan. We report a rare case of prostate cancer initially found due to a rectal stricture.<br> A 73-year-old man reporting difficulty in defecation and admitted treatment of suspected rectal cancer was found in colon fiberscopy and barium enema to have a stricture covering the entire circumference of the rectum. Although urinary complaints were denied, there were high levels of PSA and bone metastasis. Prostatic biopsy established the diagnosis of primary cancer arising in the prostate. Hormone therapy and radiotherapy effectively resolved the rectal stricture, and the man continues to undergo hormone therapy.
