Abstract

Possibility of a new Computed-Tomography (CT) using incomplete projection data was studied by computer simulations. Data acquired by Hollow and Limited angle projections were used carry out transverse images of mandibular in this system. The matrix size of images was 128×128. Projections and reconstructions were performed with NWS-1460 (SONY). The results were as follows:
1. Transverse images of phantoms could be reconstructed by Maximum-likelihood-reconstruction method in computer simulations with satisfaction.
2. Accuracy of images depended on the frequency of projections at each points of images. And our proposed projection data were appropriated for reconstruction of mandibular regions.
3. Computing-time required for calculation was about 50min. The increase in iterations at reconstructions could not improved obtained images significantly.
And, these results suggestted the possibility of a new 3-dimentional-Computed-Tomography.
