抄録

To claryfy the hormonal control of eclosion behaviour in the silkworm, Bombyx mori, the neurohormone which induce the precocious eclosion in pharate-adult was extracted from pharate-adult heads or adult heads, and the method for the Bombyx eclosion hormone assay was established. By using the method for extraction of the Brain hormone (Nagasawa et al, 1979), the presence of the neurohormone to induce the precocious eclosion of the pharate-adult in the crude Brain hormone was demonstrated. One can recognize the presence of the eclosion hormone activity in the tested materials by precocious eclosion within 2 hours after injection. The neurohormone (Eclosion hormone: EH) exhibited dose-responese relationship in Bombyx eclosion assay. The Bombyx eclosion hormone assay is a whole insect bioassay method. The pupae were kept under 16L-8D up to 1 day before the beginning of eclosion and then transferred into continuous light. The injection was given about 8 hour before expected eclosion time. This method is very simple to perform, large number of tests can be done simultaneously. We discussed in this paper that the involvement of the EH in the eclosion behaviour, the method for the bioassay of the EH and the relationship between the time of EH injection and the induction of early eclosion of the pharate-adult of the silkworm, Bombyx mori.
