抄録

An ovarian imaginal disc of Antheraea pernyi was transplanted into a male pupa of the same species. In most cases, the ovaries did not develop very well and produced only a few mature eggs. The size and shape of the obtained eggs were apparently normal, but they weighed 1.5-1.6mg less than control eggs. SDS-PAGE showed that the eggs produced in the males had a 220kDa polypeptide which was not shown to be vitellin by immunoblot analysis using anti-vitellin serum. We transplanted reciprocally ovarian imaginal discs between females of Antheraea pernyi and Antheraea yamamai. SDS-PAGE and immunoblot analyses showed that each transplanted ovary took up host vitellogenin. The ratio of vitellin contents in the obtained eggs to total protein contents was approximately 80%, which was the same as in the control eggs.
