Abstract
This article proposes a framework for analyzing a dynamic revenue management problem of a toll road project in a network, taking into account total transportation demand uncertainty. In our framework, the toll is switched between several discrete levels depending on the observed transportation demand at each moment, in order to maximize the expected net present value of total revenues from the toll road. We formulate this as a stochastic impulse control problem. We then reveal that this problem reduces to a set of generalized linear complementarity problem in an appropriate discrete framework. This enables us to develop an efficient algorithm.
