Abstract

Teratological studies on piromidic acid compared to nalidixic acid were carried out with the following results.<BR>Piromidic acid showed no teratogenicity in mice at oral doses of 100 and 5, 400 mg/kg/day, and in rats at oral doses of 100 and 1, 600 mg/kg/day. Nalidixic acid also showed no teratogenicity in mice at oral doses of 73, 220 and 660 mg/kg/day, and in rats at oral doses of 73 and 220 mg/kg/day. However, piromidic acid had less influences on pregnant animals and fetuses than nalidixic acid did.
