The laboratory and clinical investigations have been carried out on PM-TC (Prolinomethyl tetracycline) for intravenous injection, and the results were obtained as follows.<BR>1. The MIC (minimum inhibitory concentration) of PM-TC against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli is almost the same as that of TC, and the cross resistance was observed between the two antibiotics.<BR>2. The blood concentration of PM-TC for intravenous injection reached the peak 30 minutes after the administration, the value of PM-TC for intravenous injection being slightly higher than that of PRM-TC for intravenous injection.<BR>3. The recovery ratio into urine showed 39. 9% within 6 hours with PM-TC for intravenous injection, while 35. 9% with PRM-TC for intravenous injection.<BR>4. PM-TC for intravenous injection was administered to 12 cases of the infections in the field of internal medicine, and the high effective ratio was obtained as 83. 3%.<BR>5. Almost the same clinical effect was exhibited between the group administered PM-TC for intravenous injection and that administered PRM-TC for intravenous injection.<BR>6. As to the side-effect of PM-TC for intravenous injection, the patients complained of the abnormal sense in the mouth by the rapid intravenous injection, but the problem was little worth consideration by injecting slowly.<BR>7. The tests of hepatic and renal functions revealed no abnormal values which would be considered due to the administration of PM-TC for intravenous injection. From the above results, PM-TC for intravenous injection will be a useful antibiotic if the objects are selected properly. It may be recommended, however, that the antibiotic should be injected slowly to prevent the abnormal sense in the mouth.
