A 56-year-old man was admitted to our department because of abdominal pain and a mass with tenderness in the left side of the abdomen. Laboratory data showed a leukocytosis. An abdominal plain film revealed two niveau formations. An abdominal echogram and an oral gastrographin meal examination revealed obstruction of distal jejunum and mild dilatation of jejunal loops.<br>This patient was operated for acute abdomen. The surgical exploration revealed a small amount of straw-colored ascitic fluid and dilated small intestinal loops. A short segment of distal jejunum with reddish discoloration and induration was found, that caused obstruction of the small intestine. Two other similar segments were found at distal ileum and ceacum. These three segments were resected, and two live worms, about 3cm in length and about 0.1cm in diameter, were found, whose heads were burrowing into the mucosa.<br>The diagnosis of intestinal anisakiasis was made postoperatively.
