In general, orthodontics patients are younger, and required to undergo X-ray examinations repeatedly during a long period of treatment. Therefore, it is important to survey the actual condition on X-ray exposure to them. The investigation of the frequency of X-ray exposure was performed on 175 patients, who visited the Department of orthodontics of the Fukuoka Dental College Hospital and had the treatment during 10 years from Dec., 1973 to Mar., 1984.<BR>The following results were obtained. 1) During 6.1 years, the mean period of the treatment for them, they were put under 7.1 panoramicradiography and 15.1 cephalography (3.3 posteroanterior radiography and 11.7 lateral radiography) per person. 2) There was a tendency, that the lower the age the treatment started and the longer the period of the treatment, the greater their X-ray exposure frequency was.
