抄録

This paper describes the Newton-Raphson and the modified Newton-Raphson approach for analizing Biot's consolidation equations considering material non-linearities by using finite element methods. These approaches are more general than others which have been already developed. Using these approaches, Weald clay ideal triaxial compression tests are simulated, and availabilities of the consolidation analysis are shown by estimating differences of shear properties caused by different shear rates. In addition, the choice of finite elements and the accuracy of the initial response just after loading are picked up as problems of the Sandhu's finite element approach, and they are briefly examined.
