Abstract
Abstract
We investigate the self-spreading phenomenon of a supported lipid bilayer (SLB) on an SiO2 surface bearing graphene oxide (GO) that is thinner than the SLB and hydrophilic. Time-lapse confocal laser scanning microscopy observations suggest that the SLB is formed on the SiO2 surface, but not on the GO pieces. The selective formation of an SLB is proven by time-lapse atomic force microscopy (AFM) observations, which show topographically that the self-spreading is blocked by GO pieces. This provides the first AFM observations of an SLB under self-spreading conditions.
