Abstract

[Purpose] The aim of this study was to develop a social activity scale (SAS) and an implementation intention scale (I-SAS) for post-stroke patients. [Subjects] The subjects were 53 stroke patients at 3 months after discharge from hospital. [Methods] We constructed the SAS by reorganizing the revised frenchay activity index. We assessed the reliability of the SAS and I-SAS using Cronbach's α coefficient and the test-retest method, and the validity by linear regression with SAS as the criterion variable and I-SAS as the explanatory variable. [Results] We identified two subscales, showing basic activity (4 items) and energetic activity (5 items) in both SAS and I-SAS, and high values were found for Cronbach's α and correlation in the test-retest method. The results of the regression analysis showed that intention was a predictive factor of activity. [Conclusion] Both SAS and I-SAS were confirmed to have sufficient reliability and validity. <br>
