• The power and the gender discrimination in the training process of academics

抄録

In this paper, I re-examined the preceding studies about the academic harassment, based on the academicharassment investigation, which was implemented for the graduate student in Yokohama National University. There are two main points. One is that there is a power structure in university and academicsociety in the background of academic harassment. Another is whether or not you should limit academic harassment to gender discrimination.
As for the 1st point, I don't support "the epidemiological interpretation" that the "climate" of the lab is a problem as a background to the academic harassment but I support "the sociological interpretation" that the power structure is more important. Because the rate of the damage rises as the grade of students becomes higher, it means that the more the graduate student participates in the power structure, the more serious damage she or he incurs.
As for the 2nd point, I pointed out that the academic harassment damage should not be limited to "gender discrimination", because the rate of victims among women was not statistically higher than that of men when you exclude sexual harassment type damage and the rate of women among victimizers was not lower than the rate of professors.
