Abstract

コアマモの生育環境特性とコアマモ群落が各底生動物群に与える影響について検討した.コアマモ地上部バイオマスは季節変動が大きいが地下部バイオマスは安定していることが示された.コアマモの生息条件として底質粒径に既往研究と異なる知見が得られ,コアマモは多様な底質環境下で生育可能であることが示唆された.裸地と藻場では底生動物相が異なり,藻場では多毛類と甲殻類,二枚貝類の個体数増加が確認され,腹足類の増加は確認されなかったことから,各底生動物群に対し影響が異なることが示唆された.底生動物豊富化メカニズムは各動物群によって異なり,多毛類に対しては夏季から冬季にかけての安定かつ豊富な餌料供給が,二枚貝に対しては稚貝の付着基盤としての機能が示唆された.

Characterization of <i>Zostera japonica</i> habitat and its effect on benthic fauna were studied. The large seasonal change in aboveground biomass of <i>Z. japonica</i> was observed, though the belowground biomass did not change seasonally. Organic matter in seagrass sediment was higher than that in nearby non-seagrass sediment and positively correlated with the above and below ground biomass of <i>Z. japonica</i>. Species abundance and richness of Polychaete and Crustacea in the seagrass beds were significantly higher than those in non-seagrass area. These results suggested that detritus supplied by blighting the belowground biomass of <i>Z. japonica</i>, and precipitated by wave attenuation due to the increase of above biomass of <i>Z. japonica</i>, became foods for benthic animals and led to increase richness and variety of benthic fauna.
