抄録

Sulfatian apatite occurs as small blocks in the siltstone of the Katanoyama Formation in Nishino-omote City. It is hard and appears to be a nodule of siltstone. Mineralogical data including crystal structure for the sulfatian apatite were obtained. The occurrence of sulfatian apatite in the Katanoyama Formation suggests that the siltstone was deposited together with many mammals and fish bones, and the sulfatian apatite was probably formed by the reaction between the mammals and/or fish bones and the silt or mud due to diagenesis after sedimentation.
