Abstract
This study proposes a constitutive equation that describes material anisotropy and viscoelasticity taking into account thermodynamic theories of irreversible processes. Based on the framework of continuum damage mechanics, anisotropic damage of muscle tissue is expressed by a damage tensor of second rank. To represent the dependence of the muscle mechanical properties on muscle activity, we incorporate a contractile element into the model. The proposed model is applied to describe the mechanical properties of muscle fascicle.
