Abstract

Inverse problems on the heat equation appears in engineering and geophysics, and are important in applications. We consider an inverse boundary value problem with the heat equation on the half line. Our problem is to find initial values from the given boudary value. We propose the use of the heat kernel and the real inversion of the Laplace transform.
