Intermolecular Aryl Ligands Transfer of the Diarylplatinum(II) Complexes with a Cyclooctadiene Ligand

Abstract

An equimolar mixture of diarylplatinum(II) complexes, [PtPh2(cod)] and [Pt(C6H4F)2(cod)] (cod: 1,5-cyclooctadiene), is turned into an unsymmetrical diaryl complex, [PtPh(C6H4F)(cod)], upon heating at 50 °C via intermolecular aryl ligand exchange. The reaction occurs reversibly to afford an equilibrated mixture of the complexes.
