Abstract

Abstract
The reaction of phenyltris(trimethylsilyl)tetrahedrane with MeLi results in the formation of isolable phenylbis(trimethylsilyl)tetrahedryllithium (4a), which was characterized by X-ray crystallography and NMR spectroscopy. The derivatization of 4a via nucleophilic or cross-coupling reactions produced new tetrahedrane derivatives, including a diphenyltetrahedrane derivative with an extended π–σ–π conjugation between the σ-orbital of the tetrahedrane core and the two aryl π-systems.
