Abstract

小型の情報端末を活用したホログラム再生においては,画素数の制限された光空間変調器(Spatial light modulator,以下SLM)を用い,多点数物体を滑らかな動画像として表示できる方法の確立が重要と考えられる.筆者らは時分割再生法を用いることで多点数物体の再生が可能になることを報告したが,この方法ではレーザ光を直接ホログラム面に照射していたため,ホログラム再生に利用できる画素が制限され,結果的に動画再生時のフレームレートの確保が課題となっていた.そこで,本稿ではホログラム面へのレーザ光の照射方法を改善し,再生像に対する画質改善の方法を検討した.この結果,時分割再生法を用いなくても多点数物体の再生が可能になることがわかった.この方法は動画像再生に対しても適用可能であると思われる.さらに,時分割再生法を併用すれば,物体の再生可能点数が大幅に改善されることがわかった.

In the study of holographic reconstruction utilizing personal digital assistant (PDA), it seems to be important to establish a technique which enables us to present on the display the objects described by multiple characterizing view points as natural moving pictures, with the help of SLM (spatial light modulator) which works under limited number of pixels. As for this, we have reported that the object characterized with multiple view points can be reconstructed if the time-shared reconstructing technique is introduced, however, since, in this method, the laser beam was directly illuminated on the hologram plane, the applicable number of pixels for holographic reconstruction was restricted, and so it has been an important problem to ensure the frame-rate required for reconstructing of moving pictures. In this paper, we are going to make a report of a new method for improving the quality of the recovered images by adopting some better illuminating technique of the laser beam on the hologram plane. We show here that this makes it possible to reconstruct the objects described by multiple view points without using time-shared reconstructing technique. Moreover, if the time-shared reconstruction is applied together, it is shown to be possible to reconstruct the objects described by more largely increased number of view points. It must be noted that this technique seems to be applicable also to the reconstruction of moving pictures.
