Abstract

In order to investigate upgrading effects of static and impact resistant capacity for RC cantilever beams due to mixing PVA short-fiber, static and falling-weight impact tests were conducted taking with/without stirrups and mixing PVA short-fiber as variables. Here, stirrup ratio <I>p<SUB>w</SUB></I> and fiber mixing volume ratio <I>V<SUB>f</SUB></I> were set as 0.25 % and 1 %, respectively. In case of impact loading tests, iterative and single loading way were applied using 500 kg steel weight. The results obtained from this study are as follows: 1) mixing PVA short-fiber, static and impact load carrying capacity of RC cantilever beams can be upgraded due to bridge effects of short-fiber; 2) mixing <I>V<SUB>f</SUB></I> = 1% of short-fiber, static and impact resisitant capacity of the RC cantilever beams can be upgraded upto these of the beams with <I>p<SUB>w</SUB></I> =0.25 % of stirrup.
