Abstract
In this study, detached eddy simulation (DES) is applied to flow around an oscillating rectangular cylinder. Comparing result of DES with that of wind tunnel test and 2-D RANS based on the Spalart-Allmaras model, the applicability of DES is examined. The improved balancing tensor diffusivity (IBTD) / fractional step (FS) finite element formulation is applied to a computational procedure, and the arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) method is applied to an oscillating problem. The target rectangular cylinder is the depth-to-height ratio of 4. The range of wind velocity in which a characteristic aerodynamic phenomenon occurs is investigated.
