抄録

A 47-year-old man visited our hospital because of abdominal pain and anemia. Morphological examination, including upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy, detected no specific abnormalities. After 6 months later, his abdominal pain aggravated and he lost his body weight, then he underwent a close examination. Duodenal endoscopy and duodenography showed a localized narrow segment and an irregular ulceration with the round wall in the third portion of the duodenum. The tumor was diagnosed macroscopically as type 2 advanced cancer and surgical treatment was performed. The resected specimen showed a type 3 advanced cancer penetrated into the serosa. The tumor was a moderately to poorly differentiated adenocartinoma.<br> Primary cancer of the third portion of the duodenum is very rare. Howere, a close examination of small intestine should be performed for patients complaing gastrointestinal symptoms of unknown origin.
