Abstract
The appearance of hypoxia in water is mainly related with the characteristics of the sediment and hence the accurate sediment model is an important component to predict water quality and to propose measures against hypoxia. The objective of this study is to develop an integrated, benthic-pelagic coupled, layer-resolved and process based ecosystem model which can be used to reproduce seasonal hypoxia and anoxia in Tokyo Bay. The model was confirmed to be robust for long term computations. Steady state results through long-term computation were found to be significant to improve the reproducibility and reliability of the model. After the validation of long term results, this model can be adopted to predict long term conditions of the bay and to propose measures against hypoxia.
