Abstract
This study analyzed instantaneous wind velocities and angle and aeolian sand flux over a coastal dune in order to clarify characteristics of wind and sand flux over complex terrain of dunes where large turbulence is generated. The horizontal turbulence intensity calculated using mean and standard deviation of horizontal wind velocity was approximated by a power equation of the mean horizontal wind velocity for various wind conditions. Furthermore, the horizontal turbulence intensity showed a negative relationship with the aeolian sand flux for various wind conditions. This indicates that the sand transport rate could be formulated using the turbulence intensity.
