Abstract

沿岸域の生態系サービスとしてその価値が広く認識されている調整機能について,現況状態および持続可能性の定量的評価手法を考案した.評価手法は海洋健全度指数の考え方を日本の沿岸域スケールに応用したものであり,この手法により東京湾内の干潟における調整機能の特徴を評価した.「懸濁物除去」,「有機物分解」,「炭素貯留」の3目標を設定し,それぞれの機能を評価するために,底生生物,底質,その他環境データを収集した.<br> 干潟の状態を評価した結果,底生生物の現存量が多い干潟では「懸濁物除去」,「有機物分解」の機能が高く,「炭素貯留」は底質の影響を強く受けた.本評価手法により,3つの調整機能はいずれも生物生産の高い海域で高くなることが示唆された.

 Quantification method for regulation service-related scores was developed to evaluate the current status and near-future status of four tidal flats in Tokyo Bay. We modified the methodology of the Ocean Health Index and applied to shallow coastal ecosystems in Japan. The data of benthos biomass, sedimentary organic matter, and other environmental variables were collected to quantify three functions (suspended particle removal, organic matter decomposition, and carbon storage). The scores of suspended particle removal and organic matter decomposition were high in the tidal flats where benthos are abundant. The function of carbon storage was related to the sediment quality. Our estimation indicates that the regulating services would be high in high biological-productivity areas.
