Abstract

We examine characteristics of fluid of tsunami flow on a land using an open channel capable of generating tsunami flow. The purpose of this study especially is to clarify the vertical distributions of the flow and the Froude number (Fr). In addition, we clarify the relationship between the fluid force and Bernoulli's theorem expressed as the Fr, and then we verify the corresponding range of the Bernoulli's theorem.<br> As a result, if the vertical distribution of the Fr excludes the maximum value, it was mostly uniform. Furthermore, the experimental results showed the following. Although the Bernoulli's theorem cannot be used in the case where the water level raises rapidly, it can be applied to the expression of the yield strength of buildings after arriving at the maximum value of the Fr.
