Abstract

It has been shown experimentally that a degree of the oxygen deficiency of TiO<sub>2</sub> can be estimated from the peak value of visible-light absorption spectra of TiO<sub>2</sub> for low degrees of the oxygen deficiency. TiO<sub>2 </sub>with a low degree of the oxygen deficiency is important because it shows a photocatalytic activity under visible-light irradiation although it is difficult to measure a low degree of the oxygen deficiency.
