Abstract
This review paper introduces inelastic x-ray scattering (IXS) for phonon observations, explains its experimental techniques, and discusses future prospect of this spectroscopic method from the viewpoint of high-pressure materials science. Several studies for elastic property measurements by IXS are shown.<br>
