Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the psychological effects of yoga practice. The data of 74 participants who had just begun training at a yoga school were analyzed by using ANOVA. The participants completed a psychological test-battery three times: a) when they started yoga, b) about one month later, and c) two months later. They attended yoga classes twice a week on average. From the beginning to two months later, data analyses revealed significant increases for Self-esteem, Life-satisfaction, and Enthusiasm for a better life; while scores of Interpersonal anxiety and Perfectionism showed significant drops. These results suggest positive psychological effects of yoga practice.
