Abstract

Experimental investigations were conducted to evaluate compressive and flexural properties of slurry infiltrated fiber concrete(SIFCON)using synthetic fibers(two types of poly-vinyl alcohol fiber, and polyethylene-telephthalate fiber). The test results showed that the SIFCON with synthetic fiber possesses better flexural strength and toughness as compared with conventional fiber reinforced concrete with synthetic fiber;however, the flexural properties of the SIFCON with synthetic fiber are worse than those of SIFCON with steel fiber. Further, it was confirmed that the compressive and flexural properties of SIFCON with synthetic fiber are raised by increasing the strength of the cementitious matrix.
