The Function and Resilience of Clan Networks in Industrial Districts: Case Study of the Dies and Molds Industry in East Osaka Area

Abstract

This paper indicates the process of the resilience in industrial districts of dies and molds industry. To respond to demand fluctuation, there exist clan networks of small specialized firms in this industrial district. In the process of resilience of network, self−employed entrepreneurs who were expelled from existing companies established new start−up firms and these entrepreneurs cooperate with each other and form clan networks. We clarify the resilience of clan networks whichiscomposed of small specialized firms in the industrial district.
