Abstract

<p>Europeana Newspapers was a cooperation project funded by the European Commission with 17 organizations from 12 countries. Over 18 million pages of newspapers were digitized, among which 10 millions are OCRed. 2 million pages are zoned to identify individual articles within a page. Even name entities are extracted from some pages. The content, technology, and metadata used for Europeana Newspapers are discussed together with a search example.</p>
