Abstract

To observe the trend of dryland science research, we investigated the number of scientific papers about ‘dryland science’ and ‘cereal science’ based on the Thomson Reuter’s Web of Science literature database. Papers about ‘dryland science’ increased 7.3 times from 1991 to 2014 despite 2.3 time increase of total numbers of papers. Papers about ‘cereal science’ increased 2.7 times, and of which paper including keywords of ‘dryland science’ and ‘breeding’ increased 10.7% in this period. These results suggested that the cereal breeding for drylands was a significant scientific field in the world.
