Abstract
The ships of means of mass transportation can play a big role in emergency relief logistics for after large-scale earthquake and tsunami. The berth utilization at disaster-stricken port should be arranged quickly and efficiently under the condition that the available berths are limited.<br> Against above mentioned background, this research grasped and analyzed the berth window of stricken port by using AIS data. As a result, the ports struck by the Great East Japan Earthquake lacked their berthing ability due to earthquake and tsunami damage, and the berthing needs of ports affected by the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake surged by emergency relief ships. In addition, advance preparations and contingency plans for ports caused by future large-scale earthquake and tsunami was discussed.
