Abstract
. In this study, OX is estimated in four landfills by comparison of landfill gas composition in vent pipes and landfill surface. Landfill gas fluxes from surface have been measured using closed flux chamber. On the other hand, the means of CH4/CO2 ratio by vol. were ranged from 0.04 to 21.24 at surface. When spatial interpolation model is applied, the CH4/CO2 ratio at surface ranged from 0.07 to 0.49. Some extreme values at surface flux resulted in extremely high CH4/CO2 ratio which causes negative value in OX. Therefore, spatial interpolation must be applied to surface flux measurements. When applying spatial interpolation, OX in four landfills ranged from 0.42 to 0.88 which indicates significant amount of oxidation at landfill surface. Further studies on temporal changes on oxidation factor are needed to develop more reliable emission factors.
