Abstract

The long-term effect of flood by typhoon No. 9 2009 in Sayo, Hyogo are investigated. Generally, the long-term influence of flood in mountainous region in Japan has not been studied well. It is important to consider such influence because the impact of flood could be catastrophic for those areas where depopulation is significantly on going. The effects are estimated by statistical analysis of social indices, questionnaire survey, and interviews for local government and communities. The results indicate that the influence of flood was substantially lower than other influence of changes such as depopulation or population aging.
