Abstract

The limitations and disadvantages of using 2D graphene based materials in many applications are discussed. The production of 3D graphene networks on a sacrificial nanoporous metal-based substrate in chemical vapor deposition methods has greatly extended the possible use of graphene materials in supercapacitors, biochemical and mechanical devices, lithium batteries, electrocatalysts, photodetectors, sensing/filtration devices, water purification and transistors, and these are elucidated.
