Abstract

Background: The Learning Partner Model (hereafter, LPM) is a framework that shows series of processes that evidence-based knowledge is transmitted from a person to a person in daily context. This article highlighted how LPM was applied to cancer education and public awareness, and attempted to present a glimpse of the methods used to guide the process of educating the public.

Contents: LPM was applied in cancer education and awareness in schools and in communities. In schools, we demonstrated the importance of applying models that fit to the setting characteristics of a school. In the communities, we used the residential social networks, and found that the identification of the ‘natural helpers' (i.e., persons anticipated to fulfill the role of messenger to particular people in everyday settings) was a key to successful implementation.

Conclusions: Both in schools and in communities, LPM is useful to for cancer education and awareness raising. Applying the model may allow us to increase the effective dissemination of health information.
