Abstract

<p>本研究では,全国15大学の教員志望の学生(1,815人)を対象に,小学校理科の重要な単元である月の満ち欠けについての理解度調査を行った.その結果,月の満ち欠けについて理解している学生は僅か19%にとどまり,月の満ち欠けを月食と混同している学生は12%もいることがわかった.われわれの以前の研究から,教員志望の学生は,児童に月の満ち欠けを教えることに不安を抱えていることが明らかになっている.彼らに月の満ち欠けを理解させ,教える自信を持たせるためには,大学でどのような授業を行うべきかを考察した.東京学芸大学の教員志望の学生(102人)を対象に,(i)基礎知識を習得させ,(ii)月の運動と太陽・地球・月の3天体の位置関係を理解させ,(iii)児童への指導方法を考えさせる,という流れで授業を実践した.その結果,このような授業実践は,受講生の理解度の向上と教える自信の改善に有効であることがわかった.</p>

<p>We conducted a questionnaire survey of 1,815 students belonging to Faculty of Education departments at 15 universities in Japan to ascertain their comprehension of the cause of moon phases, which is on the elementary school curriculum. The results show that only 19% of the students surveyed had an appropriate understanding of the subject. The results also reveal that 12% of the students had the misconception that the phases of the moon are caused by the shadow of the earth. In order to reveal what causes their misunderstanding, we conducted another questionnaire survey on 102 students at Tokyo Gakugei University, and we also held a lesson on the subject and how students should teach it to children at elementary schools. After the lesson, the university students understood the subject better and their confidence in teaching the subject was improved.</p>
