Abstract

<p>Comprehensive studies on 2-D honeycomb-type magnets (NBu<sub>4</sub>)[M<sup>II</sup>Fe<sup>III</sup>(ox)<sub>3</sub>] (M<sup>II</sup> = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu) reveal that the family orders ferrimagnetically at comparable temperatures (21–43 K). Moreover, the mixed-valence Fe<sup>II</sup>Fe<sup>III</sup> compound magnetically orders at an elevated temperature (43 K) relative to other M<sup>II</sup>Fe<sup>III</sup> compounds (21–28 K). The relevance of these magnetic characteristics to other families is reviewed.</p>
