Abstract

In this paper, elementary school teachers’ awareness about programming education at elementary school level were investigated (n = 522). As a result, it was suggested that the following awareness are formation factors which make elementary school teachers become to recognize the meaning of programming education: importance of enhancing pupil's abilities and attitudes such as 「Representing data through abstractions such as models and simulations」, 「Formulating problems in a way that enables us to use a computer and other tools to help solve them」, 「Programming thinking」, 「Attitude to use computers for actualization of better life and society」, and teacher's social outlook such as 「An importance of usage of computers for creative activities than to make work effectively」, and so on.
