Abstract

This paper presents an analytical investigation of failure mechanism of the scabbing of reinforced mortar beams subjected to high velocity impact by using the three dimensional Rigid-Body-Spring Model. Numerical simulations of concrete bars and reinforced mortar beams subjected to high velocity impact (200m/s and 300m/s) were conducted for validation of the applicability to the evaluation of the scabbing mode. As a result, we confirmed that the proposed model can reasonably evaluate crack propagation behaviors and the scabbing mode of concrete bars and reinforced mortar beams. In addition, the crack propagation behavior and the stress transfer mechanism of the scabbing mode under various test conditions were discussed.
