<p>The purpose of this study is to develop a new evaluation method to examine the merits of agriculture-commerce-industry cooperation from an economic perspective. The subject is new product developments that account for about 70 percent of agriculture-commerce-industry cooperation. The method converts into numerical values the economic merits for each type of partner and for each type of cooperative group. A case that consists of five participants is verified by the method.</p><p>First, increases in prices and sales by agriculture-commerce-industry cooperation are defined as a PREMIUM when formulating the method. The larger the numeric value of the PREMIUM, the greater the economic performance level. The PREMIUM of branded agricultural produce has a larger numeric value than ordinary produce. The sale PREMIUM grows if markets spread. Cooperation with a primary processing manufacturer creates a PREMIUM for primary processing. Results show large numeric values for the primary processing PREMIUM. This shows that the role of primary processing is important in agriculture-commerce-industry cooperation. Thus, cooperation with a processing manufacturer brings a processing PREMIUM.</p><p>Second, the economic performance of a cooperative group or an individual participating in agriculture-commerce-industry cooperation is calculated with reference to PREMIUMS. The study defines the economic performance as the TOTAL GAIN for groups or the AVERAGE GAIN for individuals. The larger the numeric value of the GAIN, the greater the degree of economic performance.</p><p>The results of these evaluations are as follows: There is an extremely strong correlation between the numeric value of the TOTAL GAIN/the AVERAGE GAIN and real sales. The case shows a relationship between the numeric value of the TOTAL GAIN/the AVERAGE GAIN and real sales. Moreover, the case shows large sales as a large numeric value of GAINs. Therefore, they must form a relationship that has a large numeric value of the TOTAL GAIN/the AVERAGE GAIN in order to earn more benefits from agriculture-commerce-industry cooperation.</p><p>The evaluation method can be also used as a forecasting method for sales from agriculture-commerce-industry cooperation activities. The method can forecast the new sales level when a participant joins or withdraws from an agriculture-commerce-industry cooperation group. In addition, problems of a group of agriculture-commerce-industry cooperation and remedial measures of those can be shown with these methods. If an agriculture-commerce-industry cooperation group does not gain enough sales, they can add a participant that has a large numeric PREMIUM value.</p><p>For larger GAINs, an agriculture-commerce-industry cooperation group should consist of farmers that have branded agricultural produce, primary processing manufacturers and processing manufacturers that provide additional value, and retailers that can spread markets for new products.</p>
