Abstract

Business games aim to promote students’ rational decision-making skill through simulating the corporate management. But, in many cases, students’ decision-making in business games is limited to internal economies of a company and does not cover external economies affecting social infrastructure which supports business activities. Now the corporate behavior in a sustainable society is an issue people should discuss, it is necessary to let students learn external economies as well as internal economies in business games. We develop a business game of an environmental problem in which the concept of external economies is introduced. In this game, we set a situation where free riders who do not undertake social responsibility coexist with good-natured companies, and try to let students learn Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and a desirable type of economic system. This is a research report based on our development of a business game and its practice in class.
