Abstract

Our body image is flexible enough to incorporate external objects into. We developed an artwork named "Metamorphosis Hand", focusing on the body as an interface between internal self and external world. We controlled the traits of augmented virtual bodies and enabled to interact with the virtual object so that it showed the possibility of novel interaction free from the constraints of real bodies. It provides an experience of having an augmented body by playing the piano with virtual hands whose appearance/movement are far different from our own.
