Abstract

<p>In recent years, touchscreens have been used all over the world, however many of them do not have realistic vibrotactile feedback. Few of them have the feedback, though, the direction of the vibration is limited to one-dimension. Here we propose to use direction-controlled 2-dimensional vibration for displaying texture information. We have developed a texture presentation device capable of controlling vibration in the X and Y axis directions using lateral force. In this paper, we proposed a texture recording/reproducing method which can control vibration in the X and Y axis directions precisely by using lateral force. By employing the method we held an experiment to evaluate the reproducibility of real textures. The result shows that the proposed method can reproduce randomized real textures compared to conventional method.</p>
