  • Improvement in Adhesive Strength of PTFE Film with a Low Environmental Load Using Nonthermal Plasma Graft Polymerization

抄録

The atmospheric pressure nonthermal plasma (NTP) graft polymerization for the improvement in adhesive strength of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) film is investigated. After the PTFE samples are treated by NTP graft polymerization process with an acrylic acid temperature of 60 and 55℃ the treated samples are glued to stainless steel plates and the 90° peeling tests for them are conducted. Then, the effect of acrylic acid vapor concentration on the peeling strength is evaluated. When the acrylic acid vapor concentrations are 1320 ppm and 980 ppm the peeling strength of 4.18 N/mm and 4.85 N/mm are obtained, respectively. Furthermore, the surface chemistry and morphology of untreated and treated PTFE are analyzed using XPS and SEM. The peak of CF2 is decreased and the peaks of C-C, C=O, C-OH, and O-C=O appear by treatment. The acrylic acid polymers having a diameter of 0.1 μm−0.3 μm are distributed sparsely on the surface of treated PTFE.
