Abstract

<p>The purpose of this study is to provide the viewpoints to appreciate children’s paint arts and the way to construct teaching method in elementary school. To examine eye-movement behaviors, 4 art teacher educators and 10 novices who underwent practical training at school were presented paint arts created by elementary school children during their eyesight’s location were recorded using an eye-tracking device. All participants were asked to anticipate their own teaching methods for acting as if a teacher in the following roleplay. The results demonstrated that there existed no differences between the two groups in the mean duration of staying and moving. However, for art teacher educators compared to novices, the variances of the lengths and time durations were lower and irregularity of long-distance shifts in viewpoint was lower. Art teacher educators could anticipate the children’s creating process including the flow of the instructions and the way to dealing with materials and tools. Moreover, the art teacher educators constructed teaching procedures that contained important instructional contents by which teacher would support to develop children’s idea and concept, to determine the structure of the paint craft, and to add painting to complete details in accordance with children’s creation image.</p>
