Abstract
There were many sand boil in Tokoro River due to Hokkaido heavy rain disaster in 2016. In this research, in order to investigate the generation factor of the sand boil, we examined the relationship between the size of the sand boils and the water level of river and the soil profile in longitudinal direction of the river. In addition, the geotechnical investigate was conducted to evaluate the geotechnical characteristics of the surrounding ground of the sand boil. As a result, a silty soil layer with low water permeability was distributed inside the bank from the sand boil. It is possible to evaluate the geotechnical properties of surround the sand boil by using the S-wave(VS) distribution.
